For most of us the aim of exercise is to lose weight. However, there is more to it than just losing weight. Read on to know.

How Exercising Benefits You

Here are some of the not-so-known benefits of exercising:

Elevates Your Mood: If you are suffering from frequent mood swings, a 15 minute brisk walk or physical activity can help you deal with that. So, the next time you feel sad, depressed or anxious about anything, jump onto your treadmill. Exercise stimulates various brain chemicals that elevate your mood and help you feel relaxed. You’ll also notice an improvement in your confidence level and self esteem. Regular exercise helps ward off depression.

Facilitates Better Sleep: Are you unable to fall asleep or remain asleep? The key lies in increased physical activity during the day. It not only helps in falling asleep faster but also in staying asleep.

Good sleep further promotes concentration level and productivity. However, exercise should not be done exactly before hitting the bed, as this counteracts your sleep.

Boosts Your Sex Life: Do you miss that lost spark in your sex life? Exercise can put it back. It is a universal truth that exercise promotes energy levels, which is directly related to your desire to have physical intimacy. Well, there is more to exercise than just leaving you feeling energized. If you are a woman, your sexual prowess would get enhanced with regular physical activity. Men are less likely to face erectile dysfunction even at an advanced age.

Combats Chronic Diseases: We all know that exercise helps improve overall health. But, what some of us are not aware of is that enhanced physical activity combats heart diseases, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, certain types of cancer and various other chronic diseases. It plays a key role in keeping your blood pressure normal. Regular exercise tends to increase good cholesterol i.e. high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and decrease triglycerides.

One of the aims of exercise is to add fun to your life. So, do not think of exercise as drudgery. There are ways to enjoy it. For instance, physical activity can be increased by taking a salsa dancing class, checking out a local hiking trail or playing Frisbee with your neighbor.

Individuals that are engaged in sports have much different nutritional requirements as compared to ordinary people. The reason for this is that they are more physically active and the demand of their body for replenishment is great. Being an athlete, following the right sports nutrition diet plan can make a significant impact in your performance and overall health. Below are some of the important nutrients that are contained in foods that should be in your diet.

It is only common sense that your body needs fuel to be able to move. Foods rich in carbohydrates should be a staple part of your sports nutrition diet plan and should never be short of it. The muscles in your body uses carbohydrates as their main source of fuel as you perform in sports or while exercising.

If your diet lacks sufficient carbohydrates, you will easily get tired and will not at your best while playing.

As you play or while doing workouts, your body burns and losses vital amino acids. One way to replenish it is by consuming protein rich foods. Protein is also responsible for repairing damaged muscles while playing or doing any hard workouts. And not only that it also stabilizes your blood sugar levels, protein also acts as fuel reserve when your body have used up all of your carbohydrates. Another food used by your body as fuel is fat. Though consuming fat may have a bad reputation as being unhealthy when consumed, you need to understand that it is an important component in your diet as an athlete. Fat is a concentrated source of potential energy that packs twice as much as protein or carbohydrates have.

One more important thing that any athlete should remember is that there is always a need to consume the right nutrients after playing intensely. This gain replenishes lost nutrients essential for fast muscle recovery.

If you are an athlete and is engaged in extreme physical activities you should have the proper nutrition to match. Remember to include these foods in your sports nutrition diet plan and you will be at peak condition every time. Remember that a great athlete is a well nourished athlete.

After an illness, your doctor often will suggest tips to stay well which include both dietary and exercise ideas. Yoga is a nice option as it has gentle poses that can benefit someone without being too difficult for beginners. It also is excellent to relieve stress. Breathing helps the body both to relax and to expand it’s lung capacity. The mind gets trained to let go and this gets applied to daily situations. Many physical conditions are worsened by stress and these include high blood pressure and problems with respiration.

Flexibility is improved by yoga and this enables one to have more balance in daily life. This is also important because having a greater range of motion can help to prevent strains and muscular issues. Becoming more flexibile is also very empowering. When you are able to turn your head an additional inch or so while looking to the side during driving, it is a wonderful feeling of expansion.

Also being able to reach a bit higher in one’s kitchen is a very rewarding feeling that often results after stretching for a period of time.

Increased energy is something many people speak about needing when recovering from an illness. Yoga helps increase energy by breathing exercises and the visualizations that enable one to stop carrying emotional weight each day. We often get our energy depleted because we review painful situations over and over again or live in the future rather than the present.

Some of the yoga poses work on strengthening the back. When one does this it can help alleviate back pain because of new alignments and balances. Another advantage is that this can help one have an improved sleep pattern. By working on the body’s tendons and ligaments, joint pain can be reduced and the body will also become more toned.

Yoga, after an illness, also helps in improving your endurance level. Exercises such as Power Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Bikram Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga keep the body in constant movement often based on variations of the sun salutation. This can be beneficial, though one may want to start with restorative or gentle yoga after dealing with an illness. Some studies also say that yoga helps women who are nearing menopause as it improves the bone density. Adults and children who have ADHD or ADD can benefit from Yoga immensely by learning to control their breathing and practicing focusing. This leads to better concentration at work and school. It can also help kids release excess energy and help reduce impulsive behavior issues.

Always perform yoga under a trained instructor. Learn how to do the poses properly. If one is unable to attend a class, there are dvds that one can do at home which include chair or sitting yoga. This avoids the problems of sitting on the floor that may be difficult with those challenged by physical problems.

People often understand that illnesses and infections are common occurrences that can arise at any time during a person’s life. While most people attempt to avoid illness by eating well, exercising, and staying away from others who exhibit contagious symptoms, it is nearly impossible to avoid becoming ill completely.

In the event of sickness, people have several different options for recovery. Minor illnesses can usually be treated by rest and over-the-counter medications. In the event of infection or serious sickness, people may turn to trusted medical professionals for treatment and recovery. The effectiveness of medical treatment often depends on a proper and correct diagnosis on the part of the doctor or physician, and if an illness is misdiagnosed, serious injury may occur.

Individuals often place a high level of trust in their physicians and may be afraid to question their assessment if incorrect.

If a doctor fails to properly diagnose an illness, the patient may suffer further injuries. Prescribed medication may not work correctly if it is issued for the wrong type of sickness, and failure to quickly treat some symptoms can result in pain and suffering for the patient.

In the case of severe infection, patients may have a limited time to treat the symptoms before the infection causes severe damage to tissues and bodily functions. Fevers and other symptoms can cause irreversible damage to the tissues of the body and can cause serious pain to the patient if left untreated. It is because of these factors that doctors and medical professionals should pay close attention to their patients’ complaints.

Medical professionals should make sure to listen to their patient’s complaints and carefully record the symptoms listed by the individual.

Proper tests should be run to determine the source of the sickness, and when in doubt, the doctor should ask other medical personnel for assistance. Patients can assist their physicians by accurately describing what they are feeling and asking questions if they are unsure about the proper course of action. If a person feels that his or her doctor has made a serious mistake when diagnosing illness, the patient is well within his or her rights to get a second opinion from another doctor.

If you have suffered injury as a result of an incorrect diagnosis on the part of your doctor or physician, you may be eligible for compensation for medical bills, pain, and suffering. For more information on medical malpractice, visit the website of the Pennsylvania medical malpractice attorneys of Lowenthal & Abrams.

A person suffering with severe bipolar disorder shoplifts an armload of clothing during an attack of acute mania. He or she is sent to prison, to co-exist with gangbangers, rapists, and murderers. Or, perhaps worse, to live in a solitary cell with no human interaction, for 23 out of 24 hours each day. The acute mania shifts to severe depression.

In my practice, I have met many misconceptions about mental illness from patients and their relatives. I can’t blame them. Mental illness has not been understood for a while. In fact, it has created a stigma that people dismiss its importance and its impact in their lives. Some even hide their emotional difficulties from the scrutiny of their close friends and loved ones.

The Cure for Mental Illness is not one specific cure, but having suffered greatly in the past and now tasting freedom, I know there is a cure.

It’s not a formula, but it is using the biblical tools God leads you to use. It’s a combination of things converging for YOUR freedom (or the release of a loved one or friend.) It’s a prescription from the Great Physician, Dr. Jesus Christ.

Integral to educating people about mental illness is dispelling myths. Hayes points out that mothers do not cause mental problems in their children, although their depression may affect a child’s development of it. However, it is just as likely a mother can prevent mental problems in her child. Hayes states, “Nurture mental wellness in a new mother and she then can nurture it in the child.

So are social worker’s fears well-founded? How much protection does the ADA really afford those with mental illness? According to Paul Appelbaum, MD, professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, Past President of the American Psychiatric Association and chair of the APA’s Council on Psychiatry and Law, to qualify for the ADA, a person has to be impaired and “substantially limited” in one or more life activities.

Mental illnesses are not inherited. The similarities in behavior and dysfunction are not due to the actions of genes or other hereditary influences. Rather, the similarities result from a child (then, teenager and adult) enacting subconscious negative agreements and selfish behavior pattern-ideas that were taken-on (downloaded) from the parent displaying similar behavior. This subconscious child-to-parent agreement and pattern idea transfer will make the child appear “like” that parent.

Other mental illness symptoms are known to include a lost of interest in happiness and enjoyment and the tendency to social isolation when most people feel powerless, lonely and disconnected from other people and the world around them.

In such cases a person suffering of mental disorder is known to lose interest in former hobbies, sports, past times and social activities. Very often a mental sickness of different kind from depression to bipolar disorders is expressed as an irritable mood and explosive behavior.

RECOVERY:

Ten years ago when my son became ill with paranoid/schizophrenia all we could think of was that ‘this illness will go away soon and all will be well’. But it wasn’t quite that simple and there certainly are too many stories to tell now. Once you have seen your loved one go to the depths of ‘hell’ all you want is for them to be “OK”, well, anyway that was what we thought.

Having a withdrawn behavior and “lonely” attitude are some of the more important mental illness symptoms that need to be looked out for by family members and friends. Withdrawing from family life and social activities that had been previously enjoyed by the individual is one such symptom.

The actuaries who calculate the risk for insurance companies have always known that, the lower the annual milage, the lower the risk you will be involved in an accident. There’s always been the same problem about giving discounts. People are economical with the truth. Give a financial incentive like lower premium rates, and they will swear on a stack of bibles their vehicles gather dust in the garage. Since the insurance company cannot afford to employ a team of inspectors to monitor garages and follow drivers around to verify the actual number of miles driven a month or year, the insurers have either had to “believe” what people say or withdraw the offer of a discount. For decades, the majority of companies have only offered token discounts in situations where a claimed low milage is reasonably credible, e.g. when the insured is retired. But now technology is riding to the rescue of both insurer and insured.

Over the last twenty or so years, there’s been a design revolution. In the pre-technology days, vehicles were essentially mechanical. Now they are “intelligent”, i.e. a vast number of chips control the way the vehicle handles and responds when being driven. The reason for this change has been the ability to make a chip and control circuitry that’s strong enough to survive in the real world. Equally important is the cheapness of these chips. If they are physically located in the engine compartment, they must be able to stand the changes in temperature from the prevailing to the heat of operation. There will be vibration and shocks as the engine operates and the vehicles hits potholes. Put the chips in the suspension, wheel or braking assemblies and there will be rain, snow and ice to contend with. It’s been remarkable to watch this happen so quickly.

Now the vehicle can tell you when you need new brake pads or tires. If it’s stolen, a tracker device can tell you where it has been taken. A distant garage can also be told when a problem develops and what needs to be done as a repair. This monitoring and communications facility is just what the insurance industry has been waiting for. Now the technology can be enhanced to give the insurer a real-time report on when, where and how far you are driving. Better still, it can report on how safely you are driving. Since the technology already sits inside the braking and suspension systems, it can tell the insurer if you swerve violently or brake sharply. Led by the appropriately named Progressive, there are an increasing number of usage-based policies on offer.

Why have these policies been offered by more insurers? As it is, the safest, low-milage drivers are moving to the companies with technology. Facing the possibility they will be stuck with the high-milage, reckless drivers, the other insurers have been running to catch up. Now, if you want to find cheap car insurance, you will find it if you are actually a low-milage driver. Some insurers are offering up to 40% discounts to attract the safest drivers. So the next time you are using this site to get car insurance quotes, look for the usage-based policies. For once, technology is on your side.
