Do GMO Companies Really Care About People

without comments

If GMO companies really cared about people then their products should be all about people as well. And that was what these companies and the proponents of genetic engineering have always been claiming. Despite the many promises that genetic engineering would be the miracle cure for many things, years after scientists first learned to engineer genes, many of those promises still remain unfulfilled – worse, some of them might have even been forgotten.

Years ago, many believed were quick to believe that using genetic engineering in areas such as agriculture would help alleviate major global problems such as poverty, food shortage and malnutrition. Presently, however, there haven’t been any major improvements in these problems. In fact, even the prices of the genetically engineered crops have not gone down; which should be the case, since genetically modified crops should give higher yield.

And if GMO companies such as Monsanto really cared about the people, then they should label their products. They should allow the consumer to be able to exercise their right to choose. Even if there was no real difference between GMO products and non-GMO ones, they should still allow the consumer the choice. Instead Monsanto and the rest of the GMO companies aren’t labeling their products.

Where then is the love in that?

Smiling People Enjoy Better Life Quality

without comments

Do Poles are really a nation of gloomy people? Can you learn to laugh? Do smiling people live better? Laughter is considered to have an extremely beneficial effect on us. Why do Poles are often said to be born killjoys? In comparison to Americans or Englishmen, the Polish smile rarely and reluctantly.

It is difficult to determine for sure whether Poles complain more and are sadder than others. You can, however, try to test the level of happiness of a nation. What may surprise some people, psychology experts, sociology specialists and even some governments, take it very seriously to measure the happiness of the inhabitants of different countries. Following this trend Gallup Poll conducted a survey on a massive scale. The study which questioned thousands of people from 155 countries shows that Poland is somewhere in one-third of the stake. Quite decent. However, the local test carried by a Polish social diagnosis firm in 2009 has showed that 67 per cent of Poles consider themselves happy. We also have 43 percent of people who think their lives are successful and meeting their expectations, which is a huge progress compared to the 20 percent in 1993. This was due to the fact that, even if we complain, it’s just some kind of facade and, deep in our hearts, we really consider ourselves satisfied.

Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Recently Chinese Communist Party’ (CCP) newspaper, People’s Daily, published an article, titled ‘Chinese tax, the world’s second’ is a false statement”. This led to a public discussion. Scholars point out that the issue of whether the tax burden is “painful” or not shouldn’t dwell on the level of tax only. It is more important to pay attention on how reasonable are the Chinese tax structure, financial revenue and expenditure. And where do the money go. CCP’s Financial Ministry says 2/3 of public expenditure is spent on people’s livelihood. This causes uproar amongst people. On September 30, People’s Daily published an article of the reporter Li Lihui, stating that last year’s financial data were used for the analysis, as this financial year is not over yet. The article points out, that 2010 China’s public expenditure is RMB8987.4 billion, 2/3 of which was used for people’s livelihood. On September 13, CCP’s Financial Ministry announced that the first eight months of this year, China’s public revenue totaled RMB7428.6 billion, a 30.9% increase over the same period of last year. This People’s Daily’ news caused uproar among people, who doubt the figures, saying “People’s Daily is really funny. Since when did it start to publish such jokes? They maybe mean that 2/3 of our money are spent by them!” Netizens also comment that this seems like cheating a fool by explaining the figures that are made up by
