Proper physical exercises reduce cancer risk

A new report released by The World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that proper physical exercises can help reduce the risk of suffering from cancers such as breast cancer, colon cancer and so on.

On the World Cancer Day this year, WHO recommended some aerobic physical activities of moderate intensity of at least 150 minutes a week, for all people aged 18 and over could do great help because it has been proven effective in cutting down risks to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). For the human beings belongs to 5 to 17-age group, the WHO said at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activities could function as preventing such diseases from building-up, reports the website English.news.cn.

“Lack of physical activity is the fourth leading risk factor for all global deaths, with 31 percent of the world’s population not physically active,” said Ala Alwan, WHO assistant director-general for Non-communicable Diseases and Mental Health.

It is pointed out that the lack of exercise may weaken the immune system in human body.

It is said that physical inactivity is in close relation with cancers and other NCDs, such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, up to now, in the worldwide scope, it has been viewed as associated with 3.2 million deaths per year.

It is also pointed out that the risk is particularly alarming in developing or underdeveloped countries.
